Arlee

ARLEE – The Scarlets cruised into the number one spot on the District ladder after delivering Charlo their first defeat of the season pushing Arlee to a 8-1 overall record, 5-0 in conference.

With both teams going into the contest with clean league records, the Scarlets were on a mission to make sure they took over the throne at home Thursday and after the 39-24 victory a packed set of bleachers full of fans were right there to see their Scarlets rise to the top.

Behind Scarlet Carly Hergett’s high-scoring 15 points, Arlee grabbed the lead early and never looked back, scoring eight more than their opponent in the fourth frame to lock in the victory.

Becca Whitesell chipped in nine for her team.

The Scarlets will continue their hunt for league wins while hosting 14-C teams in their next two games taking on Superior’s Lady Bobcats Jan. 23 and Hot Springs Jan. 24.

The Scarlets played Two Eagle River Friday but no results were reported.

Charlo

ARLEE – The Lady Vikings may have lost their top spot on the District rung but a dominating redemption put the Lady Vikings back on track after a split last week.

Thursday in Arlee, the Lady Vikings took their first hit of the season after falling to the Scarlets 24-39, pushing Charlo into second place.

Nagy sisters Cheyenne and Shayna led the Lady Vikings in points with each scoring six.

At home Saturday the Lady Vikings came back fiercely, delivering a crushing 61-15 blow to Hot Springs and bringing their record to 9-1 on the season, 5-1 in conference.

Shayna Nagy high-scored, netting 21 for Charlo while Mikaylan Roylance chipped in 12.

Charlo will travel to Mission on Thursday and will host St. Regis Friday.

Mission

ST. IGNATIUS – The Lady Bulldogs are still looking to pick up their first win of the season after falling twice last week while fighting a 0-9 season record.

At home Friday, the Lady Bulldogs faced 6-B rivals Ronan Maidens taking a 20-60 tumble against the Maidens scoring power.

Irene Lopez led in scoring for the Lady Bulldogs netting seven.

In a close one in Troy on Saturday, three Lady Bulldogs pulled double digits but it wasn’t enough to launch past the Lady Trojans, sending Mission home with the 44-54 defeat.

Lopez once again took the lead in scoring, posting 15 followed by Trinity Lewandowski with 13 and Sydney Castor with 10.

The Lady Bulldogs hope to capture their first victory with a contest against Charlo at home Thursday and an away game in Deer Lodge Saturday.

Polson

CORVALLIS – The Lady Pirates found trouble on the court while fighting to attain a victory and pick up that first win of the season.

Tuesday in Corvallis the Lady Pirates played a close contest but came up empty handed after a late rally by the Lady Blue Devils in the 26-30 defeat.

Nichole Lake, Marlee Congdon and Skyla Krantz were the only Polson ballers to score. Lake led with 11.

At Libby Saturday the Lady Pirates fell to the Lady Loggers 27-44 in the Northwestern A contest.

Though the Lady Pirates fell, seven athletes posted scores with Lake netting seven, high-scoring for her team. Erin Sampson logged 10 rebounds.

The Lady Pirates will travel to Whitefish Thursday and then on to Stevensville Tuesday.
