The Vikings had a rough week dropping a couple to District rivals and bringing their overall record to 4-5 on the season, 3-3 in league.

Thursday the Vikings traveled to Warrior territory to compete against Arlee’s undefeated club. Adding to the Warriors casualty list, the Vikings fell 28-63 in the 14-C showdown.

While no Viking posted double digits, Kobe Cox managed seven points and Greg Montgomery logged six.

Saturday the Vikings just missed the bar at home, tumbling by just three in the 39-42 loss to Hot Springs.

Though the Vikings went into half time with a single point edge on the Savage Heat, Hot Springs defense held the Vikings to just 13 total points in the second half.

Despite the loss, Viking Dugan Runkel worked hard, scoring 16 for his team. Tyson Petticrew helped with nine.

The Vikings will head to Mission Thursday and then will host St. Regis Friday.

Mission

ST. IGNATIUS – The Bulldogs split a couple of close ones in their last week of play, leaving them with a 4-5 season record.

At home Friday, the Bulldogs hosted league rivals Ronan Chiefs. After falling behind in the first frame, the Bulldogs chased a game of catch-up. With the exception of an outscoring third quarter, the Bulldogs failed to keep up with Chief’s scoring, falling to Ronan 42-49.

High scoring for Mission was Aaron Fisher-Ahenakew with 17 while Gentry Brown threw in 10.

Saturday the Bulldogs took a long drive to Troy and came home with the 50-48 win. Though coming out of the first quarter trailing by four, Mission kept their scoring on a consistent pace throughout the rest of the contest giving them the edge to squeak by the Trojans for the non-conference victory.

Fisher-Ahenakew once again led the troops, netting 28 for his team while Nick Durglo chipped in 9.

The Bulldogs will host Charlo Thursday and then head to Deer Lodge Friday and then on to Bigfork Tuesday, Jan. 27.

Polson

CORVALLIS – The Pirates grabbed a split while on the road last week bringing their season record to 3-7, 1-1 in conference.

On Jan. 13 the Pirates fell to Corvallis 46-59 after the Blue Devils overpowered the scoreboard in the first frame and held on tight until the end.

Tanner Wilson high-scored for the Pirates with 16. Teammates Andrew Curly and Matthew Rensvold followed behind with 12 and 10 points respectively.

At Libby on Saturday, the Pirates picked up their first league win after trumping the Loggers 54-44 in the Northwestern A contest.

Rensvold dazzled at the net, scoring 19. Wilson snuck in 17 points of his own.

The Pirates will road-trip it to Whitefish Saturday and then will return home to host Stevensville on Tuesday.

Ronan

PLAINS – The Chiefs split a couple of road games this last week keeping them at 5-5 on the season.

At Plains on Thursday the Chiefs took on the Horsemen in a nail biting back and forth contest ending on the wrong side of the knot for Ronan. After a fourth frame rally by the Horseman, they handed the Chiefs the 45-50 loss.

Cedric Earthboy finished with 15 points for the Chiefs. Jeremiah North Piegan added 10.

Friday the Chiefs challenged Mission, snapping up the 49-42 victory on the Bulldogs home court.

While tied going into the fourth quarter, the Chiefs tossed in 16 in the final frame, outscoring Mission by seven to secure the league win.

Chief Cedric Earthboy set the pace for Ronan, high-scoring both 6-B teams and netting 23. Colton McCrea chipped in an additional eight for the Chiefs.

Ronan will host Florence Friday and then head to Eureka Saturday.

Two Eagle River

PABLO – The Eagles toughed out a roughed-up week as they took a couple hits along the way, bringing them to a 4-6 season total.

Friday the Eagles hosted top ranked Arlee and though keeping up with the Warriors through the first half, a 30-point Arlee rally left the Eagles struggling to catch up in the 52-84 league bust.

Alex Quequesah led the Eagles in points, tossing in 15 while Eugene Parker added 10.

In Missoula Saturday the Eagles fell behind Valley Christian 66-93 despite a trio of double-digit scorers coming from Two Eagle River’s side.

Quequesah logged 22 for the Eagles followed by Kollin Wrobleski with 15 and Julian Cutfinger with 12.

Two Eagle River will take on the Savage Heat in Hot Springs Friday and then host Noxon on Saturday.
