RONAN — The American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Lake County will hold a kick-off event 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31 at both Polson Walmart and Ronan Harvest Foods. Friends, neighbors, cancer survivors and caregivers can get information on sponsoring the event, forming a team, attending the survivor dinner or joining the committee.

The kick-off event offers information about ACS’s mission of saving lives faster by helping people stay well, helping people get well, finding cures and fighting back. Any teams who sign up before or during the kick-off will be entered in a drawing to win $100 to be credited to your team fundraising amount.

Relay for Life is an event where teams of local businesses, schools, churches, community groups and families build awareness and raise funds — prior to and at the event — to fight cancer. While the main objective of Relay For Life is to raise money for cancer research and cancer patients, the event helps spread cancer awareness, celebrate the lives of survivors, remember those who lost their lives to cancer and unite a community in the fight against cancer.

“Attending our kickoff event is a way for people who have never ‘Relayed’ before to find out about Relay for Life, and those who have participated to learn about exciting changes and progress Relay for Life and ACS have made since last year’s event,” event chair Karen Dellwo said.

This year’s American Cancer Society Lake County Relay for Life will be held Friday, July 10 at Ronan Sports Complex from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m.

For more information about the kick-off event or how to get involved, contact Karen Dellwo at (406) 883-8806.
