High school musicians from Hamilton, Libby, Polson and Stevensville gathered in Polson for the Northwest Montana Band Festival on Feb. 2 and 3.
Students met in groups with guest conductors Kelly Berdahl, Tobin Stewart and Stephen Versaevel, who worked with the students, helping them to improve and polish their musical performance.
PHS student Taylor Rost is a three-year veteran of the festival and plays the alto saxophone. She said the students worked on two songs on Feb. 2, with the guest conductors giving suggestions on how to improve the song and how to work on the balance.
The festival ended with a concert featuring all of the approximately 150 students on Feb. 3 in the Polson High School auditorium, according to Rich Sawyer, band director at Polson High School.
