RONAN – On Aug. 11 at the Bockman park in Ronan, the Ronan Area Chamber of Commerce hosted their first-ever First Responders Appreciation picnic to give a warm thank-you for all their dedication and hard work. The event honored members of the Ronan Fire, Ronan Police, Tribal Police and Ronan Ambulance departments.

Members of the various departments were welcomed with pleasant weather, as the temperature dipped into the mid-70s in the shaded picnic area. Supportive community members brought their families and friends and enjoyed burgers, hot dogs, and barbeque together.

Ronan Fire Department Lieutenant Dave Marmon came out to join in the festivities with fellow firemen.

“It feels good to be acknowledged,” Ronan Fire Department Lieutenant Dave Marmon said. “A lot of people don’t know what we go through daily. We put our families though a lot.”

“This was the first year we’ve done anything like this,” St. Luke Marketing Director Wayne Fuchs said. “It's part of coming upon the 10th observance of the 9/11 tragedy. We wanted to say thank-you to all the responders in the Ronan area.”

Fuchs added that hopefully the Ronan Chamber can make this day of appreciation for our area responders an annual event.
