Martha Bahm Hegel

RONAN —Martha Bahm Hegel died Feb. 13, 2015, at St. Luke’s Hospital.

Martha was born Nov. 10, 1924, in Faith, North Dakota, to Gottlieb and Regina Bachman.

Martha lived in North Dakota in the Almont-Carson area all her life. Martha married Leo Bahm in 1944 and to this union Ronald, Gene and Linda arrived.

Martha and Leo ranched south of Almont, North Dakota, for 24 years and then sold their farm and moved to Polson in 1968.

Martha was an active member of the Montana Fiddlers Association and Accordion Association and had accompanied the accordion group with her guitar.

In the years following Leo and Martha’s arrival to Montana in 1968, they lost two sons, Ronald and Gene. Losing Leo’s brothers: Pete, John, Joe and Frank, was also a hardship. Martha lost six sisters: Mary, Lydia, Ida, Ester, Rosie, and Elsie; and three brothers: August, Otto, and Leonard Bachman. Ruth is the only living sister.

Martha has two grandsons – Travis and Dustin – and five great-grandchildren.

In 1988 Leo passed away and in 1990 Martha remarried. She married Tony Hegel and gained three stepchildren – Terry, Susan and Deb – who reside in California. Tony and Martha traveled many miles meeting relatives and new friends.

Martha’s daughter Linda Marlenee Heth (who will miss and love her forever) and her son-in-law Dennis Heth survive her. There are also many surviving nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke’s Extended Care Facility in Ronan, Montana. Cremation by Shrider Mortuary and internment will be at a later date.
