Robert Wayne Moderie

HELENA — Robert has risen to the heavens on Feb. 15, 2015, to join his parents Doris and Wayne and his wife of 52 years Darlene. He will be enjoying his life’s passion of hunting, bowling, golfing, cars and chatting with old acquaintances.

Robert was born Sept. 26, 1936, in Missoula to Wayne and Doris Moderie. He was raised in Valley Creek on the family farm.  Robert attended school at Valley Creek Lower and Upper schools until eighth grade. He went to Ronan High School his freshman year then went to Arlee High School his last three years until graduating in 1955.

Robert traveled to Wyoming and worked in a sawmill for a couple of years and later moved back to Dixon. He then moved to Great Falls to work in a service station and met the woman of his dreams and later married her on Aug. 6, 1960.  In 1961 he moved back to Ronan and started working for Plum Creek Lumber where he worked his way up to the head sawyer at the mill until he retired in 1997.  He and his wife then moved to Helena to live closer to his girls.

Robert is survived by his brother Dick (Keren) of Polson; his sister Arlene (Ron) of Pablo; all his children: Scott (Belinda) of Ronan, Sheryl (Jim) of Helena, Shane (Shelley) of Hamilton and Sonya of Helena; along with five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His wishes were to be cremated and his ashes to be spread with his wife. We will have a gathering later this year to talk and laugh about all of the little things that mattered to his life and family. Condolences may be left for the family at: www.dalyleachchapel.com.
