ST. IGNATIUS – The Lady Bulldogs opened up the softball season with an explosive show of power after blowing out Drummond not once but twice in the double header, posting 80 runs between the two games.
Not only were the Mission bats hot, both games saw no hitter performances from the circle as the Lady Bulldog hurlers worked out opening day jitters and turned them into victory high fives.
At home on Saturday the Lady Bulldogs trampled over the Lady Trojans 37-0. Jaycee Anderson gained the win from the circle while teammate Ran’De Charlo went a perfect 3-3 at the plate with a double and a pair of RBIs. Kenzie Couture parked one over the fence for Mission.
Game two played out in similar fashion, only the Lady Bulldogs grew even hungrier at the plate in the 43-0 blowout.
Emilie Charlo belted an in-the-park grand slam to add to her 5-6 full cycle performance, including 10 RBIs. Mikaylan Roylance also smashed a homerun and went 4-6 for the day. Ran’De Charlo gained the win from the circle.
The Lady Bulldogs will host Loyola-Sacred Heart Thursday and will hit the road to Missoula to challenge Hellgate March 31.
