POLSON – A Charlo man has changed his plea in the shooting and killing his wife, 29-year-old RaeLynn Charlo in November 2014.
Adrian McElderry, 32, agreed to plead guilty to mitigated homicide and obstructing justice on May 21. He faces up to 40 years in prison and a $50,000 fine plus an additional two to 10 years in prison because a weapon was used in the crime. For a separate obstruction of justice charge, McElderry could be sentenced to 10 years in prison. He was originally charged with deliberate homicide, which carries the death penalty or life in prison as punishment. Sentencing was set for July 2.
McElderry was initially charged with deliberate homicide and tampering with evidence after authorities said evidence at the scene of his wife’s death did not match up with McElderry’s story of her alleged suicide.
An autopsy showed she was shot in the head, between her eyes.
