RONAN – After a 5k that took them around Ronan, Tanner Bergh and Aislinn Love went into the final stretch of the second annual 4-H Fun Run at a full sprint.

The duo passed the finish line panting, with Bergh edging in front of Love at the last second, far ahead of the third place runner, Pat Bristol.

Bristol was the honoree of the run, for the hard work she has put in during her 30 years of work at the Lake County Extension Office. Bristol, who recently retired, has been an important part of the

4-H program throughout the years.

The 4-H run helps send children to different camps across the state each year. It was the brainchild of Korrie Frisk, a current 4-H member and Ronan High School cross-country runner who thought other folks might be willing to run for a good cause.

Korrie has attended the 4-H camp at Loon Lake and said it was a great experience.

“You learn a lot of stuff, but you also get a lot of free time to kayak, and shoot bows,” Korrie said.

4-H Adviser Nori Pearce said the race had a dual purpose: the camps, and promoting healthy families.

“We also want to encourage health in 4-H families and kids,” Pearce said.

Parent Val Frisk thanked the 21 participants and volunteers.

“I’m so proud of our volunteers who make it happen,” Val said.
