RONAN — Two Pablo homes were lost in an early Monday morning fire that was reported just after midnight.

Ronan Fire Chief Mark Clary said the Ronan department and Polson Fire Department responded to a blaze in Pablo on Second Avenue East that completely destroyed one vacant mobile home and partially damaged another occupied trailer. In addition, one garage structure was totally lost and another was partially damaged.

Clary thanked the firefighters who responded to the four-structure fire. He said fireworks that were stored in one garage kept igniting.

“That made it interesting,” Clary said.

Clary said the cause of the blaze is under investigation.

The American Red Cross also responded and volunteers were assessing the impacted family’s needs as of Monday morning.

Darrel and Deana Rogers are the couple who lost their home in the fire. The first structure that ignited was abandoned, according to Darrel’s mother, Vicki Erickson. The couple lived in the home with their 21-year-old son and three pugs.

“At this point we are just trying to assess,” Erickson said Monday morning.

It looks like much of the family’s belongings will have been burned or damaged, but the family was waiting on the insurance company to send someone to look at the property before they re-enter the home, Erickson said.

She said the couple was staying with her, and that anyone who wanted to donate items could call 406-676-2514 or cell phone 406-314-3494.
