Arlee

Arlee’s Scarlets opened their home season with a bang on Thursday as Becca Whitesell led her team to a three-set rout of District 10-C rival Superior, 25-17, 25-22, 25-23. Whitesell and Carly Hergett each nailed five kills for Arlee, and Whitesell tallied eight digs and 10 assists. Bryndle Goyins added three blocks and four aces, and teammate Ashley Revis chipped in another three blocks.

On Saturday, the Scarlets took a short drive up the road to Pablo, where they picked up a second District 10-C sweep over Two Eagle River, 25-12, 25-16, 25-14. Eden Morin nailed 10 aces, while Megan Reed had nine. Overall the Scarlets combined for a total of 30 aces, but it wasn’t just the offense on fire — Arlee refused to allow the Eagles more than 16 points in any of the three sets.

The Scarlets travel to St. Regis on Thursday and will host Plains on Saturday.

Charlo

After hosting St. Regis on Thursday, Charlo’s Lady Vikings were in Superior for another District 10-C contest on Saturday, but not for long — Charlo quickly swept the meeting 25-15, 25-18, 25-11. Mikaylan Roylance chipped in a whopping 18 assists, 

The Lady Vikings are slated to have a busy week, hosting three conference opponents in as many days: Plains at on Thursday, Noxon on Friday and Seeley on Saturday. Varsity matches are at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday and at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Charlo def. Superior 25-15, 25-18, 25-11

Two Eagle River

The Lady Eagles hosted District 10-C rival Arlee in their season opener on Saturday, but the home court advantage wasn’t enough to help the Lady Eagles stop the Scarlets, who won 25-12, 25-16, 25-14.

 

Mission

At Thompson Falls on Tuesday, Mission had a hard time against the Bluehawk trio of Autrey Hannum, Shey Hannum and Madi Wheeler, who combined for 29 of their team's 41 kills. Thompson Falls won in four sets, 25-7, 25-18, 24-26, 25-10, despite a Lady Bulldog rally in the third.

Jordyn Eichert had seven assists and two aces for Mission, while teammate Sydney Castor chipped in three kills.  Ran’dee Charlo added nine digs, while Leila Marsh had all three blocks for Mission.

On Thursday the Lady Bulldogs hit the road again, this time taking on the Eureka Lions in a hard-fought four-set loss, 23-25, 25-21, 25-10, 25-20.

Castor led Mission with 13 kills, while Eichert added 14 assists and a pair of aces.

Mission will host Troy and Anaconda starting at noon on Saturday.

Eureka def. St. Ignatius 23-25, 25-21, 25-10, 25-20

Polson

At Butte Central on Thursday, the Lady Pirates fell victim to the Maroons’ deep front line and strong serving in a 3-0 loss, 25-14, 25-8, 25-14.

Polson will travel to Frenchtown for a Northwestern A matchup this Thursday before hosting Stevensville on Saturday.

 

Ronan

The Maidens started off their home season on Thursday with a win over Stillwater Christian, but they had to earn the victory in five sets, 25-21, 25-23, 17-25, 21-25, 15-11.

Ashley Peterson led her team with nine kills and three blocks, and teammate Sadie Wirz added 10 digs and five aces. Shaina Snyder chipped in 12 assists for the Maidens.

After a quad at home last Saturday with Deer Lodge, Troy and Eureka, the Maidens will host another this Saturday with Libby, Bigfork and Deer Lodge.

Ronan def. Stillwater Christian, 25-21, 25-23, 17-25, 21-25, 15-11.
