News from Polson Rural Fire Department

POLSON — In recognition of Fire Prevention Week, Polson Rural District paid visits to Valley View School and Mission Valley Christian Academy last week to work with the students on fire safety. The theme of Fire Prevention Week this year is smoke detectors. The volunteers arrived in two fire engines from Polson Rural Fire District and went over various safety issues with the students, including the importance of having working smoke detectors, what to do in event of fire, having a family escape plan and practicing it, stop, drop and roll and making sure the batteries are changed and working in the smoke detectors.

The students were excited to see the fire engines and the firefighters in their full turnouts, according to Polson Rural Fire Board director Jack Clapp. They had an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about being fire safe.
