Mission Valley Christian

POLSON — The Mission Valley Christian Academy girls’ team hosted a 7v7 tournament last week, playing in four out of six games.

Aisha Clarke played in all 240 minutes and Rachel Maddy, Ellie Maddy, Kailana Redwood and Nayeli Windauer played nearly all of the four games as well.

In game two’s 7-0 shutout against Crysalis, Rachel Maddy scored her goal from the keeper position off a punt that landed in front of the Crysalis keeper and bounced over her head and in for the goal.

The girls faced a tough team in Stillwater Christian, losing 3-0 in game three.

Ellie Maddy’s fourth goal in game five against Plains/Thompson Falls was scored with about 30 seconds left in the game, extending the game to a shootout.

“It was a hard angle from the right side and she hit it over the keepers head and into the far side netting,” coach Jess Kittle said. “It was the goal of the day for us.”

The team beat their opponent 6-5 in the shootout.

The girls headed into the championship game against Stillwater after playing three previous games and losing Lexie Maddy due to a knock to the knee in the game against Plains/Thompson Falls. That left only one sub for the exhausted team. MVCA lost 0-5.

“We were the only team to play in four games that day,” Kittle said. “I’m so proud of all the MVCA girls.”

The boys-only team also faced Stillwater in their first game of the season in a nine-man competition. Because Stillwater had many boys out with injuries, MVCA loaned Nathanael Goodrich, Micah Doty, Davis Smith and Perry Lambson to their opponent’s team so a game could be played. MVCA ended up winning 11-1.

Jake and Nick Windauer teamed up early to score two goals within the first 4 minutes of play plus three more points after the half. Sandwiched in at 3 minutes was Stillwater’s only goal of the game. Other goals were scored by Lucca Maddy (19:00, 23:00), Breken Clarke (25:00) and Brady Shipley with assists from Ace Lake (61:00) and Nick Windauer (70:00)

The boys were set to play Polson JV on Tuesday in their second and final game of the season.
