CHARLO — Well finally, the fencing around Charlo Memorial Park has been finished.

With the help of the Charlo Jr. Stockgrowers 4-H, under the guidance of Ginger and Jeremy Zempel (Zempel Fencing of Charlo), the last segment is now in place.

The 4-H young and old members spent the better part of the day on Saturday, Oct. 10 putting in the fence. It was a very professional job right down to the cement in each posthole. As Mission View Garden Club has the care of the park they asked the 4-H Jr. Stock growers if they could add and finish the fencing. It has been some time since they placed in the other section of perimeter fencing, but they matched it up perfectly. It is always great to see the work habits of the young people of our town come together on a project that benefits the whole community. The 4-H has about 30 members and just about everyone was there to help. We should support these hard working kids in all their endeavors. They are “the future” for all of us.

Charlo Memorial Park is the oldest park in the center of town. It is used for so many gatherings that it’s become the focal point for children’s parties, wedding and just plain family gatherings. It is one of the best maintained parks in the Lake County Parks inventory.  That’s because Mission View Garden Club has been the caretaker for more than 50 years. Ann Deister, club president, came by to see the children’s work and also took pictures. All club members donate to the park fund for upkeep.

We hope to see more interesting happenings to the park in the near future. So please come by and visit and sit among the trees and relax and have a picnic lunch on the park tables.
