POLSON — The Pirates put points on the board first in Friday’s home football contest, but the Havre Blue Ponies responded with a touchdown for each of Polson’s first three scores. Havre followed with two more touchdowns before the half, then continued to score a touchdown in the third and fourth, leaving Polson with a 48-28 loss despite the Pirates scoring once more before the game ended.
Polson was strong on offense as Colton Cote tallied 86 yards on 18 carries and one touchdown. Quarterback Tanner Wilson was 6-12 for 160 yards passing and a touchdown, plus one rushing touchdown. Back up quarterback Wyatt DuCharme came on the field and completed five of six passes for 91 yards. Wide receiver Jacob Harrod had three catches for 118 yards and a touchdown while tight end Matthew Rensvold had five catches for 83 yards and a touchdown.
Rensvold led the defense in the linebacker position, forcing a fumble and tackling nine times while linebacker Jonah Burke earned seven tackles. Defensive end Nick Marquardt had six tackles and defensive tackle Trevor Corley added a sack to his five tackles.
Polson is 1-2 in conference and 3-5 overall. Polson will travel to Columbia Falls on Saturday, Oct. 31, for the first round of the play-offs. Kick off is at 1 p.m.
