John Samuel Cisney

PABLO — John was born Dec. 29, 1923, in Watkins, Montana, in a sod house to Sam and Nellie Cisney. He passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015. 

John lived 10 years in Watkins, then moved to Ronan in 1934 with his parents, brother Edwin, and sisters Nellie, Laura, and Mary, who have all preceded him in death.

John graduated from Ronan High School and attended Montana State College in Bozeman. John farmed, was a parts man for Stanley Scarce and worked in the United States Post Office for 30 years.

John married Loletta Yterhus and enjoyed 62 years of marriage. They had two children, Steven of Beulah, North Dakota, and Diane (Jim) Bocksnick of Nashua, Montana; three grandchildren: Jenny (Dave) Fuller, Geri (Pat) Pump, and Dan (Zoyla) Bocksnick; and three great-grandchildren: Katy, Britany, and Zoe.

John was a trustee in the Methodist Church, director of the Consolidated Dairies and at the Ronan Senior Center, he was a director, a member of the Council on Aging, put on potluck dinners, and was well known for his hash browns at the pancake dinners. 

He loved traveling, playing board games, reading, and could quote poetry he memorized when he was young.

John was known for his wit, his love of animals, and his gardens.

His funeral service was held at Faith Lutheran Church in Ronan on Saturday, Nov. 21.
