News from St. Luke Community Healthcare

RONAN — For more than 60 years, being a good neighbor and supporting the communities we serve has been a priority for St. Luke Community Healthcare. It’s a commitment that is rooted in our core values and lived by all of our employees.

Throughout a four-week period the staff at St. Luke came together to buy, donate and collect 3,035 pounds of non-perishable food and personal hygiene items to supply the food banks in Ronan, St. Ignatius and Polson with the most essential items going into the holiday season.

“I’m proud of our employees for their generosity to donate their time and money to help those in need,” said Steve Todd, CEO of St. Luke Community Healthcare. “Approximately 1 in 7 Montanans struggle with hunger which can have lasting consequences on both physical and mental health. It is important to support organizations that provide food for those that have the greatest need.”

The food drive was organized by a group of 10 employees that make up the fun/activities committee that meets monthly to plan activities and events for staff. Each committee member helped collect, sort and box up all the donations.

Decorated boxes and bins were placed in every department throughout St. Luke including the clinics in Ronan, St. Ignatius and Polson. Brooke Roberts, project coordinator for the food drive, said “it was almost impossible for anyone to miss this event. Besides the wonderfully decorated boxes, we also held a contest to encourage staff participation.”

The top four departments or group of departments to tally the most points were Surgery and Pharmacy, Maintenance and Materials Management, Cardiopulmonary and Diagnostic Imaging, who will all be treated to a pizza party.

“I want to congratulate the winners, but this amazing donation wouldn’t have been possible without the support and participation from every single employee,” Roberts said.

St. Luke Community Healthcare is the largest private employer and healthcare provider in Lake County. St. Luke provides a full spectrum of wellness, prevention, acute care, rehabilitation and primary care to the Polson, St. Ignatius, and Ronan communities.
