DIXON – It’s Christmas week, most of the parties have passed, Star Wars is on, and sales are everywhere! People are traveling, bells are ringing, people are being friendly....and we have a touch of snow for the Holidays. One of our local visual delights is the yard display just west of the Ravalli Bridge, on Highway 200. Each year Gary and Sharon Hill put out many large symbols of the season, plus plenty of lights. Thanks, Hills, for adding to the enjoyment of the lovely “National Scenic Highway.” They will be putting up decorations for the coming special days — be sure to look for them as you drive by.

We enjoyed a special roast beef/ham dinner followed by a fun gift exchange at our pre-Christmas dinner. It’s always fun to see what you end up with, as others can “steal” your gift if they prefer that to drawing a different one. Thanks to Don Moe, from Dixon, who entertained everyone by singing some Christmas songs in German, while playing his guitar. Barbara Cripps’ daughter, Ranay, is happy to be visiting from Connecticut for the Christmas season. Tony Stender wearing his Santa hat looks like the real fellow with his homegrown white beard so, cook Jen Hammond’s 4-month-old baby had her first Santa picture taken with our Dixon version of Santa.

Menu and activities:

—  Thursday, Dec. 24: no meal on Christmas Eve

—  Monday, Dec. 28: enchilada dinner

—  Thursday, Dec. 31: hamburgers at noon on New Year’s Eve

May we all have kind thoughts and good cheer for the rest of this year, and find someone to share yours with.
