The Arlee High School choir will join internationally renowned composer and producer Tim Janis on Montana Public Television Monday, March 7, at 7 p.m. for the “Celebrate America Across Montana” special.

Arlee’s choir will perform “We Shall Overcome” under the direction of Rebecca Olsen.

The program was taped on Jan. 18 at the KUSM-Montana PBS studio in Bozeman. School buses brought hundreds of students from Montana high school music programs including Arlee, Frenchtown, Hamilton, Corvallis, Great Falls Central Catholic High School, Hardin, Power, Choteau, Red Lodge, Big Fork, Mount Ellis Academy and Sacajawea. Arriving well-prepared and very professional, each choir came into the studio to record their performance.

“The legacy is really these young people that you see performing, and what it will mean in their hearts when they go through life and say, ‘once upon a time I was on public television with all of my friends singing in a choir.’ It’s just an opportunity for them to always have that in their hearts,” Janis said.

Janis is an American composer with 10 Billboard charting CDs and more than one million albums sold. Each year he produces The American Christmas Carol at Carnegie Hall, working with top artists in the music industry.

His career includes philanthropic projects such as Music with a Mission meant to encourage understanding of differing cultures, and Music in our School that inspires elementary school student to create and study music.
