BUTTE – With a successful season in the books, the Ronan Maidens had one final weekend of basketball for the chance to compete for the State B Championship title. On Thursday, March 9, the Ronan Maidens had their first round game against St. Labre. The Ronan Maidens fell behind by 11 points in the first quarter and couldn’t find the run they were looking for to close the gap. St. Labre’s Shiloh McCormick made a huge impact in the game by scoring 35 points and adding seven rebounds. The Maidens fell 51-71 in their first round match-up. St. Labre went onto to take third place in the State Tournament.

The following night, the Maidens took on Forsyth in the loser-out game. The game went back and forth with both teams fighting for the win. Ronan was winning the game 46-45 at the end of the third quarter. Lee Camel had four 3-pointers and finished the night with 20 points and Alicia Camel and Micalann McCrea combined for 30. The Maidens and Forsyth battled in the final quarter, but Forsyth came out on top with 63-57 win.

Ronan Maidens Head Coach Ron Hanson summed up the year by saying, “A bit of a disappointing end to a great season. (I’m) proud of these girls and all the things they have accomplished.”
