Marie Henry Bramsen

POLSON — Marie Elizabeth Henry Bramsen, 92, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2016, at St. Luke Extended Care in Ronan. Marie was born on May 22, 1923, in Melstone, Montana, to William F. and Gladys McKenzie Henry.  Marie was the oldest of five children. She has two sisters, Millie (Larry) Williams and Ruth Ford and two brothers, Earl Henry and Charles Henry (deceased).

There was a short time the young adult, Marie, moved to Washington during WWII to work in the shipyards, JC Penney, and the pulp mill.  This was a fond memory for her in the past few years.

Marie came back to Missoula and met the love of her life, Arne Leo Bramsen, and they were married on Christmas Day 1945. They lived in Missoula where they became parents of two beautiful daughters, Carol Ann and Donna Marie. In 1961 the Bramsens moved to Polson to raise their family.

Marie was, first and most importantly, a wife, a mother, and a grandmother. She loved seeing her family, visiting and laughing, and always enjoyed a joke, especially on April Fools’ Day! Her family thinks it was fitting that that be the day she crossed over, and think she is happy and dancing at her homecoming party in Heaven, complete with chocolate.

Her last 25 years, spending time with her best friend Bob, traveling all over Montana and across state lines, eating at all of the senior centers in the Mission Valley and beyond and napping in the car along the highway, was a highlight and added much joy to her days.

Marie is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Arne in 1977; daughter Carol in 1988; great-grandson Howard Clark in 1991; brother Charles in 1979; and special friend, Bob Gould, in 2015.

Those celebrating her full life and left to enjoy her memory are her daughter Donna and son-in-law Lynn Weaver; four grandchildren: Suzanne (John) Clark, Arne (Wanda) Wilber, Lisa (Dan) Kinyon, Jon (Kelly) Schultz; 10 great-grandchildren: JJ, Beth, and Donald Clark, Brett Mays, Brandon Wilber, Josiah and Danielle Kinyon, Sam, Trevor, and Justin Schultz. Step grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends will also remember her smile and laughter. Marie’s other “girls” include, but are not limited to: Needie Kennedy, Duskie Dwelle, Judy Coulter, and Linda Knutson.

Cremation has taken place and internment is at Sunset Memorial Garden in Missoula. A memorial service is being planned for Tuesday, April 12, at 3 p.m. at the Polson Senior Center. Memories and condolences may be sent to the family at: www.thelakefuneralhomeandcrematory.com.

Arrangements are under the direction of The Lake Funeral Home and Crematory.
