News from Montana State Parks

BIGFORK – Flathead Lake State Park, Wayfarers Unit, is hosting an open house from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 16 at the new Flathead Lake Ranger Station.

The Flathead Lake Ranger Station will provide a public contact station for visitors to gain information about Flathead Lake State Park, the lake and the surrounding communities. In addition, there will be a small gift shop and camp store available for visitors to purchase souvenirs or a forgotten camping item. The park’s management staff will also have their offices in the Flathead Lake Ranger Station.

The Flathead Lake Ranger Station is located in the Harry Horn Day Use Area near the entrance of the Wayfarers Unit of Flathead Lake State Park, just outside of Bigfork. The public is welcome to come and look around the Ranger Station, talk with park staff, and enjoy some treats at the open house.

Flathead Lake State Park consists of six unique park units located around Flathead Lake: Wayfarers, Yellow Bay and Finley Point on the east side and West Shore, Big Arm and Wild Horse Island on the west. In addition to boating, swimming and fishing, each park unit offers unique experiences including camping, rental picnic shelters, group camping, hiking, sightseeing, picnicking, and wildlife viewing opportunities.
