POLSON — Clean Up Green Up, Polson’s annual community-wide spring cleaning day will be held Friday, April 29.

Headquarters will be in the former Heart and Soul office in the North Lake County Public Library where volunteers will be supplied with garbage bags, gloves, vests, and the locations that need some work. They also will be fortified with coffee and cookies.

Volunteers will focus on cleaning up the roadsides that lead into our community, especially Highway 93 South as far as Minesinger Trail and along Kerr Dam Road.

“So much trash has blown off unsecured loads headed for the Transfer Station, these areas look like we’re living in a third world country,” Mary Jensen of Envision Polson’s Beautification Committee said. “We have contacted all the regular volunteer groups and service clubs, but this year we hope to see more newcomers get behind this effort. Thousands of visitors drive through our community. Trashy roadsides make a terrible impression. If we want people to stop and support local business, our community needs to be as inviting as possible.”

Republic Services will provide a large dumpster located on First Avenue and First Street East in Polson. It will be available from Friday, April 29 to Monday morning, May 1. If people can’t participate on Friday, they are encouraged to “pitch in” time and effort on Saturday or Sunday.
