ARLEE – Graduate Darren Marks stood in the traditional line up in a cap and gown outside the gym after the graduation ceremony on Sunday. Fellow graduates filled the line, shaking hands and sometimes giving a tearful hug.

“I feel very accomplished,” Marks said, seriously.

But on such a happy day, he decided a serious answer didn’t quite sum up his feelings.

“In the words of Johnny Five, I feel alive,” he said with excitement.

Patrick Big Sam said he couldn’t believe the Arlee Class of 2016 was actually finished.

“I’m glad to be done,” he said adding that his education will continue as he goes on to study rangeland management.

During the ceremony, Superintendent Dave Whitesell told the graduates that they will get out of life what they put into it.

“My hope for you is that you enjoy the process,” he said.

Salutatorian Megan Reed said it seemed like yesterday when she was sitting at the lunch table as a kindergartner drinking milk with a straw like a cool kid.

Valedictorian Alex Bertollt said that whatever road his classmates take in life, he hopes they make it their own.

Graduation guest speaker Aaron Brien said that he has learned that high school has an influence on a person’s life. He told the graduates that “nothing comes easy, but nothing is too hard.” And he wished them luck as they move forward in life.
