POLSON — The United States Air Force Academy Band from Colorado Springs invites the public to join them as they celebrate the Nation’s Independence Day and pay tribute to the patriotic spirit of the nation’s citizens and the great veterans who have faithfully served the country.

The USAF Academy Band will be performing a free evening concert at the Polson High School auditorium on Friday, June 24. Admission is free and is part of the band’s week-long tour through Montana. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the concert will begin is at 7 p.m. According to Porter, this is the first time that this concert band has come through Montana in more than a decade. “These are community relations events,” said Adam Porter, the operations manager for the tour, which includes music from John Phillip Sousa to James Brown and everything in between.

The USAF Academy Concert Band represents the Air Force Academy, educating, training, and inspiring men and women to become officers of character. The Concert Band is composed of 50 active-duty Air Force professionals and is one of nine Academy Band ensembles. In addition to performing for Air Force troop morale, recruiting, and community outreach events, the group often appears on radio and television broadcasts and presents educational performances and clinics at national music conferences. For more than 60 years, the Academy Band has used the power of music to honor the nation’s heroes, inspire Air Force personnel and the nation they serve, produce innovative musical programs and products, and communicate Air Force excellence to millions around the world.
