Eugene Harry Pritchett

OLYMPIA, WASHINGTON — Our precious husband, father, and grandfather, Eugene Harry Pritchett, passed away on Oct 11, 2015 from melanoma cancer. He was at Mother Joseph’s Care Center. His wife Sharron was by his side when he passed.

He was born in Los Angeles, California, on Nov. 30, 1937, to Harry Earnest Pritchett and Gladys Marie Pritchett.

There will be a graveside service on Thursday, July 7, at 11 a.m. at Lakeview Cemetery in Polson, followed by a Celebration of Life Memorial at the Immaculate Conception Church hall at 1002 Fourth Ave. E.

Gene graduated from Polson High School in 1955. He attended Carroll College in Helena majoring in chemical engineering. He transferred to Gonzaga University where he finished his studies.

He married Sharron Swayne on Sept. 7, 1957, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Polson.

They lived in various places in California, where Gene worked with Union Oil in the Labs, and with Betz International for many years. He and Sharron went into their own business when they moved to Olympia, Washington.

Gene is survived by his wife Sharron and five children: Theresa Johnson (Steven) of California, Tammy George (David) of California, Tanya Quinn (Derek) of Florida, Patrick Pritchett (Catherine) of California, and Michael Pritchett (Tammi) of Polson.

Gene had 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his mother Gladys Pritchett and his father Harry Ernest Pritchett.

He loved hunting, taking the grandchildren out crabbing, collecting, traveling, and taking care of his wife and family.

Gene’s love and caring will be missed more than words can say and so will the crazy, wild stories he spun to the grandchildren.
