Each month at the Boys and Girls Club of the Flathead Reservation and Lake County, the staff has the painstaking task of choosing two Members of the Month – one boy and one girl at each unit who have exemplified the six pillars of good character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship.

This July at the Polson Unit, Nevaeh Rae Silva and Jesse Lee Bingham have been nominated as the notable Members of the Month.

As the Club’s “ray of sunshine,” Nevaeh has been nominated for her contagious positive attitude and spunkiness. She brings excitement and enthusiasm to everything she does and is kind to everyone she meets, always lending a hand where she sees a need. At age 9, Nevaeh has been attending the Club for three years. She describes herself as kind, supportive and friendly and looks forward to going to the Club every day to swim in the lake and bond with her favorite staff member, Liz Johnston, whom she admires greatly. On the weekends, Nevaeh enjoys going to the park with her sister and having sleepovers with her friends – both of which always involve a trip to “The Cove” for ice cream. She looks forward to going to school to become “every kind of doctor” one day.

While he has only been attending the Club for two months, Jesse, 13, has already been noted as a positive role model for the whole Club. He is incredibly respectful to everyone he meets and eagerly helps the staff, always asking where he can best be of service. He has taken a strong leadership role in the Club and has proven himself to be both incredibly reliable and responsible. The Club is happy to have him as a new member. Jesse’s favorite part of the Club is the Teen Room where he gets to meet new friends his age and just “hang out.” On the weekends, he enjoys staying up all night to watch movies and enjoy popcorn. A unique, intelligent and assertive young man, he would like to become a professional skateboarder.

At the Ronan Unit, Aubrey Michelle Sharbono and Parker Julian Nolen have been nominated as Members of the Month. While she has only been attending the Club for one year now, Aubrey, 10, has already proven herself to be a strong leader within the Club. She is incredibly respectful to everyone she meets and is very helpful to the staff. A very friendly and caring young woman, she does her best to make sure that everyone feels included in group activities and is the first to make friends with any new Club Members. She enjoys learning, and she says that her favorite Club activity is playing online, academic games in the Tech Room – especially the multiplayer games that she can play with her friends. On the weekends, she likes to horseback ride, play in her sprinkler and enjoy barbecues with her family. She describes herself as respectful, kind and helpful and looks forward to riding in professional rodeos one day.

A kind, respectful and trustworthy young man, Parker, 9, has also been nominated as a Member of the Month due to his strong leadership skills. He displays excellent citizenship skills and treats everyone fairly. He is also a good listener and lends a hand to the staff whenever possible. He has been attending the Club for three years now and most enjoys going swimming so that he can practice all the tricks and flips he knows how to do in the pool. On the weekend, he enjoys playing video games, spending time outside and catching up on sleep. He is very enthusiastic and eager to join the Navy Seals when he is older.
