Beverly Lynette Petticrew

POLSON — Beverly Lynette Petticrew, 66, of Polson, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at home with her husband, Robert Stein; sons Joseph Adams and Kevin Adams; daughter-in-law Erin Shannon; and grandchildren Kaleigh and Christian Adams.

Beverly was born on June 1, 1950, in St. Ignatius, a CSKT member, to Edgar and Geraldine Petticrew. As a young girl she lived with her family in Pablo and Ronan.

In 1970 she married William Adams of Polson. The family spent time in Fort Worth, Texas; Twin Falls, Idaho; and Frankford, Germany; and later settled in Ronan. The marriage ended in divorce.

Beverly found her soul mate and partner for life in 1992 at the age of 42 when she met Robert Stein. Together for 24 years, they lived at their home on Finley Point.

Beverly was one of the first to graduate from SKC with an associate’s degree in natural resources. In 1983 she furthered her education by attending classes at Western Montana College in Dillon. In 1988 she graduated from the University of Montana in Missoula, with a Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Management.

She worked for the city of Ronan’s Parks Department while taking night classes at SKC. In 1988 she moved to Jordan, Montana, working for the US Soil Conservation Services. In 1990 she moved to Seattle, Washington, to work for the Army Corp of Engineers at the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks in Ballard, Washington. In 1991 she moved back to the Flathead Reservation to work for the Tribe where she held various positions. In 2012 she retired with 21 years of service.

Beverly enjoyed a variety of hobbies: drawing and painting wildlife, taking photographs, hiking and fishing. Her real love was working in her flower and vegetable gardens and spending time with her many dogs.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Stein; her two boys, Joseph and Kevin Adams; grandchildren, Kaleigh and Christian Adams; daughter-in-law, Erin Shannon; sister, Sharon Rosenbaum; brothers, Robert Petticrew and Kenneth Petticrew, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her memorial service took place Saturday, July 30, at 3 p.m. at the Mission Valley United Methodist Church.
