Polson — The enormous American flag that flew over Glacier Bank near the bridge in Polson has returned in all its old glory. The flag was lowered when Glacier Bank bought Community Bank and moved to their Polson location a mile east of the bridge. Then Valley Bank moved into the former Glacier Bank location, and the missing flag drew interest; in fact, it was as if people were having withdrawals.

“Community members were asking almost daily, ‘when are you putting the flag up?’” Branch Manager Moriah Lundeen said. “Everyone got used to seeing it.”

The flag was found in good repair and raised Tuesday morning, Aug. 2, with an LED light shining on the stars and stripes.

The flag once again waves at folks crossing the Armed Forces Memorial Bridge. “We wanted our veterans to see it up. They are important to us,” Lundeen said, explaining, “It’s huge, it’s massive, but it’s beautiful.”
