POLSON — Over the last several months, Jake Bauman and Roxanne Duckworth have been meeting and talking with young professionals in the Mission Valley about the interest and desire to formalize an organization for young professionals. The focus of the group is personal and professional development, leadership skills and continuous learning, as well as engagement in community issues. Several Montana communities have Young Professionals organizations including the Flathead where more than 200 YPs have been active for 10 years. This month Great Falls is hosting the first statewide gathering as a Young Professionals Summit. Communities that thrive are those where young people and families want to live and work.

More than 30 young people in the Mission Valley have expressed an interest in being part of the new organization. The group is meeting this week for an informal social time to further discuss the desired outcomes of such an organization. Liz Marchi, who has founded two young professional organizations in the past, is acting as an informal advisor.

“I can’t think of anything that could have more meaningful, long-term impact on this community,” Marchi said. “Jake Baumann is an outstanding young man whom I met through Rotary. He and Roxanne have taken the ball and run with it. I expect this group to become a very valuable part of the community.”

Learning, meeting new people, increasing business prospects and being a part of the community prompted Jake and Roxanne to found the group. They have been surprised by the interest in the region among young professionals for a formalized group where they can learn, share professional challenges and make new friends who are at the same stage in life. Contact Roxanne at rduckworth@glacierbank.com or Jake at Jacob.Baumann@edwardjones.com for meeting details.

Ken Theurabach, founder of Alpine Log Homes and numerous other businesses, will speak on how mindset matters in life and business. He is a graduate of Harvard Business School. Liz Marchi Consulting will sponsor the Sept. 8 meeting.
