RONAN — Well here it is, the middle of October, and they already have the Christmas stuff out. What ever happened to Thanksgiving? I guess that it doesn’t count anymore since it isn’t a big money maker for the stores.

If you missed our Thursday night meal, you missed out on a great chicken dinner. Thanks to our cooks, Kim and Sharlene for doing such a great job on all of the meals served here at the center. We really appreciate all of your hard work. Our next evening meal will be on Nov. 10, and they will serve pork roast.

We are still selling raffle tickets as a fundraiser for the center and for the nutrition program here at the center. So far, we have a quilt, a Thomas Kincade print and afghan, a baby quilt and a gift basket. Thanks to all who donated the prizes, to those who are selling the tickets and to those who are buying the tickets.

We are having a good response to our mini quilts that are provide by the Mission Mountain Quilt Guild. Come on in and vote for your favorite.

Our “pre-holiday bazaar” is still set for the 19th of November. Come on in and get your Christmas shopping done early and enjoy a lunch of soup, roll and dessert for only $5 per person.

If you are stumped about what to get a senior for Christmas, how about one of our meal tickets? They cost $48, are for 12 meals and do not expire. You can also buy a partial ticket.

Brian Baily, (Bailey Insurance, Kalispell), will be here on Friday, Nov. 4, to help you with Medicare insurance needs. He will be here at 10 a.m. and will stay for about two hours.

Joanne Shaw has recently retired from the Council on Aging. Thanks for all of your hard work over the years, Joanne, and may you have many years of enjoyable retirement. Taking Joanne’s place is Darra Rodda and we welcome her and wish her the best in her new position.

Our menu for the rest of the month is:

— Wednesday, Oct. 19: baked potato bar

— Friday, Oct. 21: beef stroganoff

— Monday, Oct. 24: baked tuna dish Wednesday, Oct. 26: salad bar

— Friday, Oct. 28: roast beef birthday dinner

— Monday, Oct. 31: burgundy beef stew

Don’t forget to dress up for Halloween, we just might have a prize or twofor the best “costumes”.

Have a great week, and don’t get washed away with all the rain. ( It’s better than snow.)
