POLSON - Polson secured the top spot in Northwestern A conference and iced the cake with a 47-14 non-conference victory Friday against Havre.

For two quarters the Pirates’ defense kept the Blue Ponies scoreless while Matthew Rensvold’s three touchdowns helped Polson rack up a quick 33 points before halftime. Tanner Wilson and Walter Wood also took the ball to the end zone early.

Havre put points on the board in the third quarter on a short-yardage run. Havre’s final score came in the fourth on a 53-yard run but Polson added 14 points after halftime, creating a chasm the Blue Ponies couldn’t close

Wilson completed 17 of 24 passes for 248 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. Matthew Rensvold had 11 catches for 183 yards and triple TDs. Fullback Colton Cote had 107 yards on 19 carries and one touchdown. Linebacker Jonah Burke led the defense with seven tackles and two sacks.

Linebacker Kyle Druyvestein had four tackles and a caused fumble. Defensive end Hayden Smith was in on six tackles and had one sack.
