Locals win sectional punt, pass, kick

MISSOULA — Lake County athletes performed well as Kiwanis Club of Missoula hosted the Western Montana Sectional NFL Punt, Pass and Kick competition on Sunday, Oct. 9.

With 78 boys and girls competing in five age groups, there was serious competition. Scores for all three distances (punt, pass, and kick) were added together for total distances creating final scores for competitors. Ronan had the highest number of top-three placements in age groups with a total of six, two of those being first place finishes.

DeLonte Old Person of Ronan placed first for boys ages 6-7 with a total 133 feet (punt 40 feet, 6 inches, pass 48 feet, kick 44 feet) and Macao Jackson of Ronan placed first for girls 12-13 at 230 total feet (punt 69 feet 7 inches, pass 87 feet 6 inches, kick 72 feet 11 inches).

Addison Arlint of St. Ignatius also finished in first place for girls 14-15 with 233 feet (punt 70 feet 7 inches, pass 85 feet 10 inches, kick 76 feet 8 inches).

The winners received a new leather football and kicking tee. St. Ignatius and Ronan clinched two second place finishes as well with Canyon Sargent 205 feet, 8 inches (Boys 10-11), Aubrey Krell 74 feet 7 inches (Girls 6-7), Izabel Evans 139 feet 4 inches (Girls 10-11), and Elizabeth Bluemel 214 feet 3 inches (Girls 14- 15).Ronan had two third place finishes, Connor Durglo 158 feet 11 inches (Boys 8-9) and Darian Williams 236 feet 8 inches (Boys 14-15).

DeLonte Old Person, Macao Jackson, and Addison Arlint may get a chance to compete against other sectional finalists Nov. 19 at Seattle Seahawks stadium. The highest scores from various sectional competitions will advance.

As of Monday’s press time, all remaining Seattle sectionals were reported, and eight of our 10 Montana kids are going to the Seattle PPK competition. Specific names were not yet released.
