Krystal Piedalue returns to Dr. Bull’s dentist office after completing studies to become a dental hygienist.

Krystal Piedalue recently joined the staff at Dr. Dave Bull’s dentistry office. Piedalue, a registered and certified dental hygienist, previously worked as a dental assistant with Dr. Bull. She completed her prerequisites during one year at Salish Kootenai College and was one of 16 students selected out of 55 applicants to attend the two-year dental hygienist school at MSU Great Falls College. Knowledge and exams are “much more stringent” than her studies as an assistant, she said. For example, only one exam was required to be an assistant, but Piedalue had to pass five board exams to become a hygienist.
The effort was worth it for the 1989 Ronan graduate. Armed with new knowledge, Piedalue can explain why patients needs to floss the bacteria from their teeth — rather than just telling them, “you need to floss.”
“I love to come to work every day,” Piedalue said. “It’s fun to come back and provide care.
A healthy mouth is the gateway to health.”
