High Country Motocross Association, a Montana-wide racing organization, wrapped up racing season with Jody Seifert and Tommy Seifert taking the top spots in the men’s 35 and up category. Tommy Seifert also placed first in Vintage. Rick Higdon won his 50-plus age group.
In his first year racing, Blake Piedalue, 13, took second place in boys age 12-15.
“He had lots of triumphs, knarly wrecks and disappointments along the way, but it all paid off with a second- place standing and many true friends with the same passion for racing, made from all over the state,” Krystal Piedalue said. “Racing has a lot of highs and lows and if you can learn to cope with all that when you are just a kid, that is a valuable attribute gained.”
Jackson Seifert ended just behind Piedalue in third place.
Motocross races take place in the spring and summer in locations across Montana including Havre, Livingston and Niarada. Awards were presented at a banquet held Oct. 15 at Fairmont Hot Springs. Other awards, voted on by peers, included Track of the Year, Dealer of the Year, Rider of the Year and Youth Rider of the year. Youth Rider of the Year is based on good sportsmanship, great attitude, being kind to other riders and showing respect towards adults, Krystal Piedalue explained.
