News from the Lake County Republican Women’s Club
POLSON — The Lake County Republican Women’s Club met Wednesday evening, Dec. 21, to elect officers, plan 2017 events, honor a long-time member, and enjoy fellowship and holiday refreshments after the business meeting.
New officers are Sjaan Vincent, president; Becky Dupuis, vice president; Billie Collins and Mary Davis, co-secretaries; Susan Lake, treasurer.
Members discussed the upcoming special election of the Montana member to the U.S. House of Representatives. The club will observe Armed Forces Day in May, staff booths at community events and decorate a float for local parades during the summer, and co-host a Lincoln-Reagan dinner in October.
In an effort to inspire more community recognition of the dedicated men and women who serve at all levels of law enforcement in Lake County, the club made a donation to the annual Christmas dinner for the officers and families of the Polson City Police. LCRW members prepared tins of homemade cookies and signed cards of appreciation to give the Lake County Sheriff ’s Department, the Polson City Police Department, the Montana Highway Patrol office, the CSKT Police Department, and the offices of the Ronan Police and St. Ignatius Police. LCRW will also invite spokesmen from law enforcement to speak at meetings about the cause and effect of crime in Lake County.
Mimi Milheim, past LCRW president, publicist, and all-around planner and supporter was honored for her years of dedication and tireless enthusiasm. She and her husband, retired physician Irv Milheim, will move next year to be near their family in Pennsylvania.
Twenty-six members and guests attended the meeting. LCRW meets again on Monday, Feb. 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sheriff ’s Room at the Rural Polson Fire Department building on Regatta Road near the fairgrounds in Polson. Past and prospective members are cordially invited to attend.
