Arlee’s Malatare racks up quadruple-double

The Warriors continued their winning ways last week with victories over local teams.

The visiting Class C Arlee Warriors jumped out to a 30-14 first-quarter lead and never looked back in an 86-44 win over Class-B Mission Bulldogs on Tuesday, Jan. 10.

Warriors Will Mesteth, Phillip Malatare, Greg Whitesell and Tyler Tanner all posted scores in the double-digits.

Tanner led the way for the Warriors with a game-high 28 points.

Jacob Hugs scored a team-high 14 points for the Bulldogs.

After booking two triple-doubles last week, Malatare posted his career’s first quadruple-double on Friday night in a win over visiting Two Eagle, 83-26. Malatare finished the evening with a game-high 20 points, pulled down 10 boards, grabbed 13 steals and dished out 12 assists.

Bronco Branson led the Eagles with 12 points.

On Saturday, the Charlo Vikings fell behind early 19-4 in the first-quarter, losing 65-34 to the visiting cross-valley rival Warriors.

Malatare scored a game-high 19 points and Tanner added 14 for Arlee.

Tyson Petticrew led the Vikings with 12 points.

The Warriors will host Hot Springs on Friday and Valley Christian on Saturday.

FLORENCE – On Jan. 10, the Florence Falcons jumped out to a 28-7 first quarter lead and never looked back as the visiting Chiefs fell 70-31.

Kobe Morigeau led the Chiefs with six points.

On Thursday Ezekiel Misa scored 15 points but the visiting Chiefs fell to the Anaconda Copperheads 76-48.

The Chiefs will host Mission Thursday and Loyola on Tuesday, Jan. 24.

TROY – The Bulldogs picked up their first victory of the season on Saturday by beating the Trojans 76-56.

Mission broke out with a 17-8 first-quarter lead and never gave it up.

Elijah Cahoon scored a game-high 21 points for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs visit Ronan on Thursday and host Deer Lodge on Saturday.

HOT SPRINGS – On Thursday night, the Savage Heat lead the visiting Vikings 44-28 at the end of the third-quarter.

The Vikings managed to cut into the deficit with a 29 point fourth quarter but it wasn’t quite enough as they fell to the Savage Heat 61-57.

Tyson Petticrew and Landers Smith both paced the Vikings with 19 points apiece.

The Vikings host Victor on Friday and travel to Plains on Saturday.

FRENCHTOWN – On Friday, the Pirates fell to the hosting Broncs in a heartbreaking double overtime, 76-75.

Matthew Rensvold paced the Pirates with a game-high 27 points and Tanner Wilson added 21 more.

The Pirates rebounded from Fridays’ loss with a 53-40 road win over the Libby Loggers on Saturday evening.

Jeremiah North Peigan scored a team-high 17 points for the Pirates.

The Pirates remain on the road with visits to Whitefish on Saturday and Stevensville on Tuesday, Jan. 24.

NOXON – The visiting Eagles slipped by the Red Devils 67-64 in overtime on Thursday.

Isaiah Mathis finished with a game-high 19 points for the Eagles.

On Saturday, the Eagles dropped a home game against the District 14-C leader Plains Horsemen, 63-47.

Isaiah Mathias led the Eagles with 18 points and Chasen Curley followed up with 13 points.
