ARLEE — So much for welcoming February. Tonight as I write this for the Feb. 8 issue of the Valley Journal, the temperature is -1 degree. Brrrr. Tonight it would be wise to leave a faucet dripping and keep a cupboard door under the sink open.
We’ll celebrate Valentine’s Day anyway, Feb. 11, at 6 p.m., with a ham dinner and Valentine desserts. There will be a bake sale from 4-6 p.m. before the Second Saturday Dinner. All are invited to come and enjoy a pleasant evening, and take home a tasty treat.
Meals are served each Monday, Wednesday and Friday at noon, and the second and fourth Saturday evenings at 6 p.m.
Following are menus for the second half of February:
— Wednesday, Feb. 15: ham and bean soup, corn bread
— Friday, Feb. 17: meatloaf, pineapple-upside down cake
— Monday, Feb. 20: beef and vegetable Shepherd’s Pie and dessert
— Wednesday, Feb. 22: lasagna and dessert
— Friday, Feb. 24: tomato soup and tuna salad sandwiches, brownies
— Saturday, Feb. 25: roast beef, apple crisp
— Monday, Feb. 27: roast pork, whipped potatoes, dessert
