Local student awarded Glacier Symphony, Chorale music scholarship

News from Glacier Symphony and Chorale

Glacier Symphony and Chorale awarded five outstanding students from across the Flathead Valley music scholarships at their season finale concert in April. The scholarships are part of the organization’s music education program “Wild About Music.”

“The winners were selected from Flathead Valley students who excel in music including several who play in the Glacier Symphony or sing in the Chorale. The intent of the scholarships is to help these talented music students further their training,” comments Paul Larson, GSC executive director.

Local recipient is Olivia Hewston of Polson. Olivia is a voice student and a senior at Polson High School who currently sings with the Glacier Chorale. She studies under her music teacher, Kaylee Schubert, and privately under Dawn Matt. Olivia is active in symphonic band, concert choice, pep band and community theatre including musicals with the Port Polson Players. Olivia plans to attend Montana State University in the fall.
