ST. IGNATIUS — Tune in to “The Price Is Right” on Friday, and you might just see some familiar faces on your television screen. One of them might even be a winner.

Sporting lavender “Moms And Daughters for Drew” T-shirts,

St. Ignatius residents Joan Krantz, Donna Morton, Pat Hurt, Mary Bick, Sharon Gies and Lu Pinelli, along with their daughters and several other friends from out of the area, attended the Feb. 22 taping of the famous game show.

“Once we got in (to the studio), it was so intense, so loud we couldn’t hear anything,” Krantz said. “Some of us were losing our voices.”

Amid the deafening racket of audience cheers and game show music, Krantz’s oldest daughter, Karman Klundt of Great Falls, got the call from host Drew Carey to “Come on down!” to contestants’ row.

“It was extremely exciting and stressful at the same time,” Klundt said. “It’s really hard to think about what you’re doing.”

Of course, Klundt can’t reveal if, or what, she won until the show airs. But regardless of the outcome, she said the experience was truly memory making.

“I think everybody should try it,” she said. “I don’t get to go back for 10 years now as a contestant … (but) I’ll be taking my daughter someday.”

According to Krantz, the trip to Hollywood was just as fun for Krantz and the rest of the 17-person group, who can be seen in the top right corner of the studio audience just below the red “Price Is Right” sign. The trip was a birthday celebration for a few of the ladies, including Pinelli, whose birthday was the day of the taping, and Krantz, whose fell on the next day. During commercial breaks, Carey would chat with the audience, telling stories and jokes, and once he found out the mother/daughter group was from Montana, he shared his Montana experience.

“He drove a Porsche through Montana one time … when we didn’t have a speed limit,” Krantz said. “He was going 160 miles an hour.”

Carey told the group that soon after, he was on the phone with talk show host David Letterman, who was a bit envious of Carey’s drive through Montana.

“Letterman said he got a ticket for going 40 (mph) in a 25 (in Montana),” Krantz said, laughing.

Look for the crew of local ladies on “The Price Is Right” at 9 a.m. Friday, March 11, on CBS.
And a bit of advice from Klundt for anyone thinking of going on the show: be ready for a workout.

“The wheel is heavier than it looks,” she said.
