Lake County Sheriff’s Office reported that the body of a man was recovered from the Flathead River on June 27.

LCSO believes the man is Richard Mitchell, 23, of Minatare, Nebraska. The body was recovered 10 miles downstream of Buffalo Bridge, or 17 miles from the SQK Dam, after it was spotted by a fisherman, according to reports.

Mitchell had been hiking with two other Nebraska residents in an out-of-bounds area near the dam overlook when he apparently slipped and fell into the river on May 31.

The body was sent to the state crime lab for an autopsy.
