Judge James A. Manley sentenced the following people on July 19:
Kathleen Rose Howard, 26, of Ronan, received a deferred twoyear sentence for deceptive practices, common scheme. According to a court document, she stole a wallet and used credit cards at three Polson businesses. Restitution was set at $1,207.
Jay Sorrell, 25, of Pablo, was given a three-year deferred sentence for criminal possession of dangerous drugs with intent to distribute. According to a court document, a witness said Sorrell purchased 10 grams of heroin in Spokane for between $600 and $1,000. Another defendant, Ishan Adalin Wylie, allegedly hid the heroin in her butt. Her case was continued to Aug. 30. Manley said the conviction was Sorrell’s first felony.
Dixie Lee Tibbetts, 51, of Ronan, received a three-year deferred sentence for criminal endangerment and criminal mischief, the latter a misdemeanor. Charges of intimidation and misdemeanor resisting arrest were dismissed as part of a plea agreement. According to a court document, Tibbetts threatened to slit a state trooper’s throat after she was arrested following a traffic stop. She had a blood alcohol content of .20 on a preliminary breath test, a court document states. She had two prior DUIs and one conviction for having a blood alcohol content greater than .08. Tibbetts apologized to the court for her behavior. She was given credit for 34 days in jail.
Mateel Wyn Muth, 20, of Polson had a previously deferred sentence revoked, and she was sentenced to three years in the Department of Corrections with no time suspended. Muth was originally sentenced for criminal possession of dangerous drugs on Nov. 9, 2016. She was given credit for 13 days in jail. Manley recommended she get treatment at the Riverside Recovery and Reentry Program in Boulder.
Phyllis Fairbanks, 54 of Ronan, had a suspended sentence revoked for possession of dangerous drugs. Her original sentence was in August 2013. Manley sentenced her to 45 days in jail and gave her credit for time served since June 12. Fairbanks had failed to report to her probation officer since March 2016, but Manley said she had served her debt to society.
Roxetta Rae McNutt, 25, of Pablo, received a three-year deferred sentence for criminal possession of dangerous drugs. A charge of possession with intent to distribute was dismissed as part of a plea agreement. She was given credit for 10 days in jail and ordered to obtain a chemical dependency evaluation within 45 days.
Shandeen Alexis Belanger, 23, of Polson received a six-month sentence in jail with all time suspended except for one day. She was given credit for three days in jail. The charge was amended from DUI as part of a plea agreement. She was originally charged with criminal child endangerment related to a Feb. 25 hit-andrun crash in which she was driving a red van with three minor children, according to a court document.
