POLSON – The Polson Lady Pirates hosted Whitefish and Frenchtown last week, where the fourth-ranked Lady Pirates blew past Whitefish 65-35, but were handed their second Northwest A conference loss from Frenchtown, losing 61-36.

The talent-filled Polson team seems to be firing on all cylinders before heading to the Divisional Tournament in Columbia Falls this week, as they sit 6-2 in conference and 15-3 overall.

Against Whitefish, the Lady Pirates took an early lead and never looked back. After going on a 24-11 run in the second frame Polson led by 20, up 41-21.

Polson continued to run the show in the second half, as its defense held Whitefish to only 14 points, allowing the Lady Pirates cruise to a 69-35 win.

Riley Kenney surpassed the 20-point mark once again, leading her team with a game-high 24 points, while Mariah Hamel tacked on 11.

Heidi Rausch and Macall Banner contributed apiece, while Anna DiGiallonardo finished with eight.

Whitefish was led by Simone Craft’s 19-point performance, while Ashlee Brewer tacked on six.

On Tuesday, Polson took on top-ranked Frenchtown at home. The Lady Pirates struggled to get their offense flowing, scoring only nine points in the first half, trailing 39-9 at the half.

Polson came out and doubled its first half scoring with 18 points in the third quarter, but by that time Frenchtown had complete control, eventually winning 61-36.

Frenchtown’s Emma Oostdyk and Sarah Lester combined for 33 points.
Oostdyk finished with a game-high 17, while Lester chipped in 16. The win moved Frenchtown a perfect 7-0 conference record, and sit at 15-2 overall.

Kenney’s 14 points led Polson, while Hamel tacked on seven.

The Lady Pirates move on to the Divisional Tournament in Columbia Falls this weekend, where their first game is slated to begin at 4 p.m. Feb. 24.
