Soccer

POLSON – On Thursday, Polson soccer players Michael Vergeront and Ali Hupka recorded hat tricks in their respective 6-0 wins over visiting Bigfork. 

The Lady Pirates fell 8-0 to visiting Columbia Falls, while the Pirates handily put way Columbia Falls’ boys team 4-0 on Saturday afternoon.

 

Golf

SIDNEY – The Polson Pirates boys golf team secured a second-place finish during the two-day Class A state tournament in Sidney on Saturday. The team finished nine strokes behind state champion Laurel, while the Lady Pirates as a team finished in fifth place. 

Pirate Carson McDaniel carded a two-day total 75-77-152 for third place. Matt Hobbs finished eighth rounding out the top ten golfers for the Pirates.

Brooklyn Olson scored a 99-89-188 sixth place finish for the Ronan Maidens, while Cali Cannon was the top golfer for the Lady Pi- 

rates with a 104-102-206. 

 

Volleyball

ARLEE — Ally Delaney had five aces and Kaitlyn Cox had 13 kills to help Charlo outlast Arlee 24-26, 25-21, 23-25, 25-21, 16-14 in 14C action on Friday. For the Scarlets, Ashley Revis had 16 kills and three blocks and Sydni Rogers dished in a team high 18 assists.

On Saturday, Cox finished with 12 kills, six digs and two blocks to lead the Lady Vikings to a road victory over Seeley-Swan 18-25, 25-18, 25-15, 25-17. 

ST. IGNATIUS – Karolyna Buck tallied 10 kills and five blocks and Mission defeated visiting Anaconda 15-25, 25-23, 15-25, 25-14, 19-17 in a Class B conference match on Saturday. River Gonzalez had 13 digs and Sophia Tolbert added 15 assists for the Lady Bulldogs.

POLSON – Visiting Libby outlasted the Lady Pirates 25-18, 25-21, 25-22 on Thursday. Kaelyn Smith had 12 kills and eight digs for the Lady Pirates. Laurel Bitterman added 13 assists and Kyler Lundeen had 15 digs. On Saturday, the Lady Pirates fell on the road to Butte Central in a five-set battle 23-25, 17-25, 25-22, 25-21, 15-9. Kaelyn Smith led the Lady Pirates with a game high 16 kills, while both Bitterman and Jaycee Frydenlund pitched in 15 assists each.

COLUMBIA FALLS – The Ronan Maidens fell in straight sets 25-15, 25-22, 25-7 to hosting Columbia Falls on Thursday and to visiting Stevensville 25-12, 25-18, 25-7 on Saturday. In the two matches, Tiana Ulutoa led the Maidens with 26 assists. 

 

Football

WHITEFISH – The Whitefish Bulldogs narrowly slipped by visiting Ronan Chiefs 24-23 in Class A conference action on Friday. Chiefs’ quarterback Eric Dolence completed 15 of 33 passes for 192 yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Dolence ran the ball 16 times for 61 yards and a touchdown, while Happy Cheff added 11 catches for 152 yards.

ST. IGNATIUS – In Class 14C action, the Arlee Warriors defeated their hosting cross-country rivals Mission Bulldogs 50-13. As of press deadline no other information was available on the homecoming game for the Bulldogs.

PLAINS – On Saturday, Charlo improved to 5-0 as the Vikings beat Plains 50-14 in Class 14C play. Landers Smith rushed for 239 yards on 20 carries and five touchdowns, including jaunts of 46 and 65 yards. Smith also completed 9 of 12 passes for 118 yards and two touchdowns. Toby Odom added another 87 yards rushing and three catches for 60 yards and a touchdown.

 

Cross-Country

MISSOULA – On Saturday, more than 40 cross country teams from around Montana, Washington, Idaho and Oregon competed during the Mountain West Classic at the UM Golf Course in Missoula. 

The Lady Pirates cross-country team finished eighth overall. Bea Frissell ran a 18:49.60 good for eighth place and Naima Crowl ran a 19:31.56 for 22nd place.
