It might be possible to attend three community dinners from St. Ignatius to Polson on Thanksgiving Day in a two-hour span. Just be careful not to hurt yourself. Folks can prepare for the waistband- stretching day with a meal a few days earlier in Big Arm.

Starting out in St. Ignatius, a full homemade dinner with turkey, ham and all the trimmings will be available for free at the St. Ignatius Middle School Commons from 12-2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 23. Signs will be set up on the road for those who don’t know where the school is located.

The St. Ignatius Christian Missionary Alliance Church is hosting the event. They started the dinner a few years ago to give people a place to come together for a meal. Contact Pastor Jury for more information at 406-360-0563.

Up the road in Ronan, a Thanksgiving dinner will be held at the Ronan Community Center from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 23. Several hundred people have been known to attend this event and there is plenty of food with homemade pies and other traditional desserts created by volunteers. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Marie Cowan started the dinner 13 years ago, and it has grown every year. Volunteers peel the potatoes and others donate all the fixings. This year, more volunteers are needed to help in the kitchen. Turkey, pies and rolls are also needed. For more information, call 406-676-8300.

In Polson, Thanksgiving dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Polson Senior Center. If anyone has trouble getting to the event, a delivery service is available by calling 406-883-4735. Although donations are accepted, everyone is welcome to this completely free meal.

At the Big Arm Fire Hall on the west side of Flathead Lake there is another free dinner that all are welcome to attend from 12-2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18. The West Shore Community Church is sponsoring this dinner. If possible, people can bring in canned food to be donated to the Polson Food Bank. For more information, call 406- 849-5522.
