RONAN – Helen Louise Resner Waters passed away March 25, 2011 in Gardnerville, Nevada. Helen was born September 25, 1922 in Ronan, to Carl and Eunice Resner. She graduated as valedictorian from Charlo High School in 1940. She went on to college where she received her teaching credentials and became a teacher. She later got her pilot’s license at age 37. Helen met Elvis Waters in Washington and they were married December 13, 1943 in Reno, Nevada. Elvis and Helen opened Waters’ Country Store on July 1, 1950 in Fontana, Calif. Throughout the years they were sponsors for FOHI athletics and helped many people in the community. They also held an annual Independence Day barbeque and invited the whole community for many years.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years on April 27, 1995. She continued running the store until 2006 when she moved to Gardnerville, Nevada to be closer to family.
