News from the City of Polson

POLSON – The City of Polson is committed to ensuring safe and accessible pedestrian passage on all sidewalks during winter months, and we need your help. As snow season approaches, here is a friendly reminder regarding snow removal ordinances.

Snow and ice must be removed from sidewalks by property owners within city limits. City ordinances state that sidewalks shall be cleared of ice and snow within the first 24 hours after any snow or ice deposit.

For sidewalks in the city business districts, snow and ice must be removed by 9 a.m. of the next business day, by 12 noon of the next non-business day or within four business hours after any snow or ice deposit, whichever period is shorter (Sec. 9.06.020, Polson Municipal Code).

Accumulated snow and ice may not be deposited on streets or against fire hydrants (Sec. 9.06.030, Polson Municipal Code).

The City of Polson sidewalk ordinance is available online at www.cityofpolson.com under the City Codes link. We hope that you will work with us to maintain a safe and accessible environment for our pedestrians. Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated. If you have any questions or need further information please feel free to call the City of Polson Code Compliance Officer Matt Ellermann at 406-883-8208 or codecompliance@cityofpolson.com.
