Boys Basketball

Polson Pirates

In the Northwest A District Tournament this past weekend in Whitefish, the Polson Pirates battled to a second place finish falling 78-50 to the Browning Indians in the championship game Saturday evening.

The Pirates marched into the championship game by defeating the Columbia Falls Wildcats 58-49 on Thursday and the Whitefish Bulldogs 57-40 on Friday.

In the Columbia Falls game, Colton Graham led the Pirates with 18 points followed by Robin Erickson scoring 15 points.

Both Trevor Schultz and Micah Askan paced the Pirates in the Whitefish game with 15 points each, while Graham chipped in with 11 points.

On Saturday evening in the championship, Browning jumped out to a 19-3 first quarter lead over the Pirates. The Pirates managed to string together a couple of scoring runs throughout the game; however, they did not fully recover from the early point deficit. Erickson and Graham both led the Pirates in scoring with 13 points each.

Polson will be back in action on Thursday at the Western A Divisional tournament in Hamilton when they face Dillon at 6:30 p.m.

Charlo Vikings

The Charlo Vikings claimed a bracket spot at the Western C Divisional this weekend in Butte by finishing second during the 14C District Tournament in Pablo.

The Vikings defeated the Two Eagle River Eagles 66-44 in the first round on Thursday and on Friday outlasted the Plains Horsemen 53-42 to advance to the championship game on Saturday evening.

In the game against Plains, Viking Connor Koenig scored a game-high 18 points followed by Landers Smith with 14 points.

Smith led the Vikings with 17 points in the 80-49 loss to the Arlee Warriors in the 14C District Championship game.

Ronan Chiefs

The Libby Loggers outpaced the Ronan Chiefs 60-58 on Thursday during the Northwest A District Tournament in Whitefish. For Ronan, Dallas Durheim led the team with 16 points followed by Jacob Gatch and Anthony Camel with 13 points. On Saturday, the Chiefs battled the Whitefish Bulldogs to a 72-65 overtime loss in a loser-out game. Camel led the way for the Chiefs by scoring 18 points. Durheim scored 14 points, and Bubba Bush chipped in 11 points.

 Two Eagle River Eagles

In Pablo, the Two Eagle River Eagles finished their season falling 66-44 to the Charlo Vikings on Thursday and 71-47 on Friday to the St. Regis Tigers during the 14C District Tournament. Dom Finley scored an Eagle team-high 11 points against the Tigers.

Mission Bulldogs

The Mission Bulldogs finished their regular season strong with back-to-back home wins. On Thursday, Flint McPherson led the Bulldogs with 15 points. Lucas Vanderburg, Wacey McClure, Jacob Hugs and Jedi Christy each scored 12 points in the 71-64 win over Anaconda. On Saturday, Vanderburg scored a game-high 19 points for the Bulldogs as they defeated Stillwater Christian 80-30. McClure scored 15 points followed by Hugs who scored 14 points.

Girls Basketball

Ronan Maidens

On Thursday, the Ronan Maidens face Butte Central at 5 p.m. in the opening rounds of the Western A Divisional tournament in Hamilton. The Maidens placed fourth this past weekend during the Northwest A District Tournament in Whitefish. Opening the tourney on Thursday, Maiden Ari Burke scored a team-high 20 points followed by Jaylea Lunceford with 13 points in a 72-34 win over the Polson Lady Pirates. On Friday, Regan Clairmont paced the Maidens with 10 points in a 74-34 loss to the Columbia Falls Wildkats. In a loser-out game on Saturday morning, the Maidens prevailed over the Whitefish Lady Bulldogs 49-35. Maiden Tiana Ulutoa scored a game-high 16 points to pace all scorers. Clairmont added 10 points and scored a Maiden team-high eight points in the 48-26 consolation loss to the Libby Lady Loggers.

Polson Lady Pirates

The Polson Lady Pirates basketball season came to an end during the Northwest A District Tournament this past weekend in Whitefish. The Lady Pirates fell 72-34 to the Ronan Maidens on Thursday and 49-34 to the Libby Lady Loggers on Saturday. Alex Pierre scored team-high seven points against Ronan and 10 points against Libby to lead the Lady Pirates.

Two Eagle River Lady Eagles

During the 14C District Tournament this past weekend, the Two Eagle River Lady Eagles finished their season falling 69-10 to the Charlo Lady Vikings and 53-14 to the Noxon Lady Red Devils. TaRae GoodLuck scored a Lady Eagle team-high five points against Noxon.
