Volleyball

Mission Lady Bulldogs 

Mission High Lady Bulldogs volleyball earned a win Tuesday, Sept. 3, over Arlee in their season home opener sweeping the Scarlets 26-24, 25-17, 25-13.

The Lady Bulldogs as a team posted on the evening 22 kills, 49 digs, 22 assists and 19 aces. 

River Gonzalez led Mission with 23 digs and five aces.

 

Polson Lady Pirates

In the season and home opener for the Polson Lady Pirates volleyball squad on Thursday, the Lady Pirates prevailed over the visiting Frenchtown Lady Broncs in three straight sets 25-18, 25-17, 25-16.

For Polson, Maggie Todd had 14 kills. Lena Pawlowski had 15 assists and two blocks, Ara Mercer nine digs and Misty Tenas served up four aces.

On Saturday, the Lady Pirates moved to 2-0 on the season with a four-set win over Libby 25-19, 26-24, 23-25, 25-15. 

Misty Tenas led the Lady Pirates with 13 kills and three blocks. Ara Mercer added 30 digs, Berkley Ellis chipped in with 15 assists and Grace Quinones had four aces.

 

Charlo Lady Vikings

In District 14C volleyball action on Tuesday, Sept. 3, the Charlo Lady Vikings earned a four-set win over host Hot Springs, 25-10, 25-23, 8-25, 25-19.

Carlee Fryberger had 26 digs to lead the Lady Vikings defensively. Lady Viking Liev Smith had 11 kills at net and three blocks.

Both Fryberger and Destiny Manuel contributed 26 assists apiece, while Kassidi Cox tallied 13 assists and six aces.

On Saturday, Molly Kate Sullivan led the way with eight aces as Charlo swept St. Regis on the road 25-15, 25-17, 25-10. Connor Fryberger added 11 assists and both Carlee Fryberger and Manuel each had ten digs.

 

Ronan Maidens

For the Ronan Maidens, Madeline McCrea had 6 kills and two blocks, Hannah Rowe finished with five assists and nine digs, Regan Clairmont had three aces and Rylie Lindquist recorded three aces and nine digs on Thursday evening in Stevensville.

The Maidens fell in three-sets 25-16, 25-18, 25-20. 

 

Arlee Scarlets

On Tuesday, Sept. 3, the Arlee Scarlets fell 26-24, 25-17, 25-13 to the hosting Mission Lady Bulldogs in Class B volleyball action.

The Scarlets recorded eight kills, 35 digs and six aces.

 

Golf

Polson Lady Pirate golfer Ellie Thiel shot a 91 on Wednesday and carded an 88 on Thursday to claim third place during the Frenchtown Invite at the King Ranch Golf Course in Frenchtown.

The Lady Pirates as a team also finished third in the 11-team field. The Ronan Maidens placed sixth as a team.

On the boys side of the leader board, the Polson Pirates placed seventh followed by the Ronan Chiefs in eighth place in the team standings.

 

Soccer

Polson Lady Pirates

The Lady Pirates notched their first win of the season with a 6-0 shutout on the road over Corvallis.

Sophia Moderie netted four goals and dished out two assists to lead Polson. Autumn Burland had an assist to go with her two goals.

In Saturday’s on the road match up against Stevensville, the Lady Pirates fell 4-2 to the Lady Yellowjackets. Moderie scored both goals for Polson.

 

Polson Pirates

In boy’s prep soccer action, the Polson Pirates were blanked 4-0 on the road in Corvallis on Thursday evening.

On Saturday, the Pirates had built a 1-0 lead in the first half on a Tray Lichtenberg goal but it was a Kaden Nelson second half goal that gave the Pirates a 2-1 road win over Stevensville. The win moved the Pirates’ record to 1-2 on the young season.

 

Football

Charlo Vikings

The Charlo Vikings placed a notch in the win column Thursday evening with a 28-14 victory over cross-county and district rival Arlee Warriors.

Viking running back Isaiah Allik scored on runs of 37-yard, one-yard and 35-yard to lead the Vikings in the road win.

 

Polson Pirates

In Whitefish, the Polson Pirate defense scored a safety and returned a fumble 28-yards for a touchdown in a 28-15 road loss to the Whitefish Bulldogs on Friday evening.

Offensively for the Pirates, quarterback Bo Kelley threw for 113 yards and a touchdown and wide receiver Ryker Wenderoth had 93 yards on nine catches and a touchdown.

 

Arlee Warriors

The Arlee Warriors move to 1-1 on the season with a 28-14 home loss to cross-county and district rivals Charlo Vikings on Thursday evening.

Nathaniel Coulson scored a 4-yard rushing touchdown and Cody Tanner scampered for a 16-yard rushing touchdown to lead the Warriors.

 

Mission Bulldogs

It was a scoring slugfest in St. Ignatius Friday night under the lights as the Mission Bulldogs and Clark Fork Co-Op lit up the score board with a combined 86 points. 

Clark Fork came way with the 54-32 win over the Bulldogs.

For the Bulldogs, Layne Spidel scored three touchdowns. One on defense with a 19-yard touchdown off a fumble recovery, one on special teams with a 70-yard kickoff return and one on offense rushing 15-yards for a touchdown.

Also scoring for the Bulldogs was Troy Mat, who raced down field on a 61-yard touchdown run. 

 

Ronan Chiefs

On Friday, the Ronan Chiefs fell 37-6 in their season home opener to the Columbia Falls Wildcats.
